How to ensure that android device manager can find
your device-
For this your device need to have Remote location enabled.
Which you can do by following-
Go
to Google Settings>>Android
Device Manager >> Remotely locate this device or simply turn on the GPS
on your phone.
we can use android device manager either by
the app on some other device or visiting the Android device manager website here
in most cases phone is not stolen but it
just lost, in this case Ring Your Phone feature
will help to find your phone easily.

Lock your
Phone
in case phone is stolen we can lock it , it will ask
for a mobile number and a password to set as screen lock .
This lock feature
will lock your phone but allow the one who finds your phone to call on the
number provided by you. If the phone is off then it will lock once it come back
online.
4. Remotely erase data-
The remote wipe option will enables you to erase all
your data. This will factory reset the phone and all your data and settings
will be erased.
If the phone is offline then this option will wipe the phone
once it becomes online.
